Privacy Policy

The short version: We don't sell your data, we don't track you across the web, and the only third party that receives your information is Stripe (for payments).

What We Collect

Information you give us:

  • Account info: Name, email, and password when you sign up
  • Profile info: Business name, city/state, specialties, and bio (all optional)
  • Inventory data: Item descriptions, photos, pricing, and condition — the stuff that makes the app useful
  • Messages: Conversations you have with other users on the platform
  • Trade history: Records of trades, reviews, and ratings

Information collected automatically:

  • Authentication cookies: To keep you logged in. That's it — we don't use tracking or analytics cookies.
  • Basic server logs: IP address, browser type, and timestamps for security and debugging. These aren't tied to marketing profiles.

How We Use It

Your data is used to run Pallet Circle. Specifically:

  • Showing your shared inventory to the community
  • Facilitating trades and messages between users
  • Sending you notifications about your trades and account
  • Processing payments through Stripe (if you use paid features)
  • Preventing abuse and keeping the platform safe

We don't use your data for targeted advertising, and we don't build marketing profiles.

Who We Share It With

Other users:

Your profile, shared inventory, and reviews are visible to other Pallet Circle users based on your privacy settings. Your exact location (latitude/longitude) is never shared — only your city and state. When you trade with someone, they see the relevant trade details.

Stripe (payments):

If you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment information is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number. Stripe receives your name and email to process payments.

That's the list.

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies. Our infrastructure runs on Vercel (hosting) and Neon (database) — they process data on our behalf under standard data processing agreements, but they don't use your data for their own purposes.

Legal requirements:

We may disclose information if legally required (court order, subpoena, etc.), but we'll notify you when possible.

Your Data, Your Control

  • View and edit: Update your profile, inventory, and settings anytime
  • Export: You can export your inventory data from the app
  • Delete: Delete your account from Settings. This permanently removes your personal data, inventory, trade history, and messages.
  • Emails: Unsubscribe from non-essential emails anytime via the link in any email or through notification settings

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data:

  • All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS)
  • Passwords are securely hashed (never stored in plain text)
  • Database access is restricted and authenticated
  • We support passkey authentication for phishing-resistant login

No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data the way we'd want ours treated.

Data Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data promptly. We may retain anonymized, aggregated data (like "how many trades happened this month") that can't be traced back to you.

Age Requirement

Pallet Circle is for users 18 and older. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we'll delete it.

Your Rights

Regardless of where you live, you can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time. If you're in California (CCPA) or Europe (GDPR), you have additional statutory rights — we respect all of them. We don't sell personal information.

Changes

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll let you know by email before they take effect.
